Hyderabad, November26th: The Andhra Pradesh Union of Working journalists (APUWJ) handed over a Cheque for Rs.1,25,640 towards the contribution of the union members to the AP working journalists welfare Fund for the year 2009.
A delegation comprising of K.Amarnath, Secretay-General, Indian Journalists Union (IJU), D.Somasundar, President, Y.Narender Reddy, General Secretary APUWJ met C.Parthasarathy, Commissioner, Information and Public Relations on 26th November and handed over the cheque. M.Prabhakar Rao, Additional director I & PR Also present. The amount is the contribution of 8376 members of APUWJ RS.15 each of the member.
The APUWJ leaders requested the commissioner to convene the meeting of AP Working Journalists Welfare Fund to sanction the financial help to the journalists who are suffering with health problems. the union leaders also demanded the commissioner to take steps to launch the IRIS photo programme in the districts for issuing Arogyasri cards.
