APUWJ meet the press with CM Rosaiah

Hyderabad:  The Chief Minister K Rosaiah criticized the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao for walking out of the All Party Meeting on ‘Free Zone’ controversy held on19th of october even after the Government conceded all the points he raised. Participating in a “Meet-the-Press” program organized by the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) here on 20th of October, he said the TRS President wanted all recruitments and transfers of policemen in Hyderabad should be stopped pending judgment on the proposed review petition in the Supreme Court and the Government agreed to the suggestion.

The Chief Minister said all most all political parties agreed with the Government that a review petition of should be filed in the Supreme Court seeking the review of its judgment on ‘Free Zone”. The review petition would be filed shortly, he said.

Rosaiah refused to say thing on reports that there was conspiracy behind the helicopter accident in which Y S Rajasekhar Reddy died. He said that the CBI and the Director General of Civil Aviation were enquiring into the incident and that no conclusion could be arrived at until the enquiries were completed. Initial reports suggested that it was an accident, he added.

The Chief Minister said the Government was looking into complaints of misuse of relief material and funds meant for flood victims and deterrent action would be taken against those found guilty.
Replying to a question, he said if specific instances were brought to his notice, he would ask the officials to look into them.

He said that the government would look into complaints that some Corporate Hospitals were using sub-standard ‘stems’ while performing heart operations under the Rajiv Arogyasri and deterrent action would be taken against the hospitals found guilty.

He said he would take a decision on the Telangana Committee appointed by Dr Rajasekhar Reddy under his chairmanship. “It is still there. I will take a decision on it shortly: he said.

Replying to a question, the Chief Minister conceded that the financial position was still difficult. But all the welfare schemes initiated by Rajasekhar Reddy would be continued by controlling the leakages in revenues and by prudently managing the expenditure, he said. “There is stress on the finances but it is not unmanageable”, he added.

He managed the finances of the state in the last five years prudently without going to the RBI for ways and means advances. “We followed the Fiscal reforms and management Act and we will continue to do it”, he said. Replying to another question, he still stood by the Co-operative farming scheme proposed by the late Chief Minister Rajasekhar Reddy. But it was not in his priority list, he added.

He said the State Government had already sent its assessment report on the flood damage and expecting the central government to send a team to discuss the matter with the state officials shortly. He rejected the allegations that the unprecedented floods were due to the irrigation schemes initiated by the previous government. He also denied the allegations that the unprecedented havoc was due to the negligence of the officials.

The Chief Minister K Rosaiah found nothing wrong in Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy aspiring to be Chief Minister or some of his ministerial colleagues supporting his claim. He said he never imagined that he would become Chief Minister in his life.

He assumed the office of Chief Minister under instructions from the UPA Chairperson and Congress President Sonia Gandhi in most unfortunate circumstances. He would carry on the responsibility as long as the Congress High Command wanted him, he said. He did not see anything wrong in some ministers supporting the candidature of Jagan Mohan Reddy for Chief Minister. When asked what action he would take against dissident ministers, he said there was no dissidence in the party or his government.

“I am never a dissident in my life. I am always yes man”, he quipped. He said he had no enemies in his own party or in any other party. “I may have political differences with some people. But I do not have enemies in my own party or in any other party. But if somebody says I am his enemy, I cannot help it”, he said.

He denied the reports that there were lapses in his security. He said some unidentified person entered the hall where the all party meeting was taking place on Monday in state Secretariat along with the leaders of political parties and the security staff mistook him to be part of some political party delegation. However, the Chief Secretary was asked to look into the incident and remedial steps would be taken, he added. Replying to a question, Rosaiah asserted that his government was capable to face the challenges of separatism and extremism.
