IJU and APUWJ Condole the death of Potluri
 
Hyderabad: Indian Journalists Union (IJU) and Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) expressed deep sorrow over the passing away of Mr. Potluri Nageswara Rao, veteran trade union leader. In a statement issued here on 25th March 2009, K Sreenivas Reddy, Secretary-General and K Amarnath, Secretary of Indian Journalists Union (IJU), D Somasundar, President and Y Narender Reddy, General Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) said Mr. Nageswara Rao who headed the Andhra Patrika Employees Union for several years was closely associated with the struggles of the newspaper employees in the state.
 
He was a great trade union leader and devoted his life for the welfare of the working class. They extended their sympathy to the members of the bereaved family. They visited the AITUC office in the City and placed wreaths on his body and paid homage to the departed soul.

In a separate statement, the Chairman of AP Press Academy Mr. D Amar,  condoled the death of Mr. Potluri Nageswara Rao and praised the sterling role he played in the struggles of the journalists and non-journalists of the newspaper industry in defense of the freedom of the press and for betterment of their living and working conditions.
