Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists expressed its deep concern over the burning of the copies of the Eenadu Daily at several places in the state on Tuesday by the activists of Youth Congress to protest against the reports appearing in the paper on the business activities of Mr. Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, the son of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.
In a statement issued here, D Somasundar, President and Y Narender Reddy, General Secretary of APUWJ, said if anybody was aggrieved by the stories appearing in a paper, he had legitimate right to protest and take recourse to legal action as a remedy to the situation. But burning of the copies of a newspaper was not correct the way and it amounted to violence against the media.
The Union called upon the Youth Congress activists to exercise restraint and express their protests in a democratic way. D Somasundar and Y Narender Reddy appealed to the PCC president Mr. D Sreenivas to restrain the youth congress activists from the crossing the boundaries of democratic protest.
