HYDERABAD: The curriculum for journalism courses should include legislative subject and a suggestion on this had been made to the University Grants Commission, Assembly Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy said here on Tuesday. Speaking at the presentation of Best Journalist Awards for the years 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 at Jubilee Hall, Mr. Reddy said that in absence of a subject during a specific course, journalists had to learn the coverage of legislative proceedings through experience.

In his address, Minister for Information and Public Relations, Anam Ramnarayana Reddy commended the committee for the job of compiling the list of awardees in a short time. The Press Academy Chairman, D. Amar said it was recommended that for selection of Life Time Achievement Award, it was not appropriate to invite entries. Energy Minister Md. Ali Shabbir and others also spoke.

Those honoured at the function included Potturi Venkateswara Rao, G.S. Varadachari, I. Venkat Rao and K. Srinivas Reddy with Life Time Achievement awards while the best photographer and journalist awardees included P.V. Sivakumar and G. Srinivas from The Hindu.
